FOX-Y With Money

I’m sure Fox can hear the clinking sound of money it will make as advertising revenue on the Super Bowl Sunday. The expected figure is a whopping $225 million if our sources are to be believed. As per them, this will include the network’s four-hour pre-game show, Super Bowl game telecast and hour-long episode of its popular drama ‘House’ which will lead us out of the game. Plus, the TV stations owned and operated by Fox will make $35 million is ad revenue locally for a similar schedule of programming, making the total figure reach an impressive $260 million.

Apparently, the Super Bowl telecast contains 63 ad units which are expected to earn around $170 million with the average spot being sold for $2.7 million. In fact, some of the multi-spot advertisers in the game are paying less per unit. Five advertisers who purchased individual units with ad time close to sell out emptied as much as $ 3 million per unit. Despite the guess game at the final figure, Fox officials are keeping mum. And why shouldn’t they, because they will be raking in all the moolah!
