“Angry Pig” by Barbeques Galore: Bland Appetizer

Barbeques Galore’s latest attempt to woo barbeque fans in form of a 30 sec TV spot has turned out to be a rather bland appetizer. The advertisement is about a person being haunted by an angry pig. This spot which is created by Young & Rubicam, Inc. has used same tactics as employed by the horror movies. But it fails to impress much; perhaps the creators of the advert should watch more of those Alfred Hitchcock films to master the technique of haunting and mystery creation!

A guy opening the door of his refrigerator and sees a pig (staring back at him) through the corner of his eye. Next moment the pig disappears and then effortlessly crosses this guy’s living room without actually being getting noticed! And right after the final encounter with the angry pig which in turn leaps upon the guy, a message is slapped across the screen “Somebody thinks you ve been grilling too much. Not us.” Sheerly disappointing. The ad makers failed to understand this simple fact that leaves aside a fatty pig, any animal for that matter wouldn’t be happy at the prospect of being barbequed!! Would they themselves be happy to get served on somebody’s platter with Barbeque sauce?? The company could have done something better than this.
