Quebec’s USE CONDOMS CAMPAIGN is a step taken by Ministry of Health and Social Services Quebec to safeguard the city’s youth. The campaign involves teaching young and sexually active people about STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) in a non-pedantic manner. To achieve its objective, the advertiser has released three print advertisements namely Quebec BE SAFE: HIV, Chlamydia and Syphilis. These three diseases can be very dangerous if left untreated. And as the age old saying goes ‘prevention is better than cure’, safe sexual habits and prevention by using condoms effectively decreases the chances of contracting any of these vicious STDs.
The print adverts are visually appealing. Individual poster bears the colored image of the disease causing pathogen. What makes the adverts intellectually stimulating and worth noticing is the use of a tag. Every pathogen so depicted bears a tag with to and from (names) printed on it! The tag line says No body wants to get HIV/ Chlamydia/ Syphilis. Some food for thought indeed!
