Cleanliness is next to Godliness . While we all have been following this adage since we were tiny tots, somehow, in between growing up we forgot that the traditional maxim holds true for our environment as well and not just personal hygiene!
Clean up Australia s initiative - Clean Up the World partners with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to encourage people and help them in preserving their local environment by cleaning it up and fixing it. The NGO did a recent survey on office paper printouts and found out that over 80% of them end up in waste bins. A disturbing sign that it is in today s time when forests are already limited in numbers. So, it came up with this innovative drive made especially for offices where work force sitting on computers and laptops is reminded through wallpaper about the value of paper and its source. The agency DDB, Sydney undertook this project and came up with a simple to use downloadable desktop image. The later will help in generating awareness and will force people to think before they go for a random printing session. The desktop image is that of a microsite bearing different icons in totality appearing as a tree. Brilliant idea and wonderful execution! I think this should not be limited to Australia only but should be made mandatory in offices worldwide.
