The brand to be benefitted the most by the Olympics is Speedo. With 24 of the 25 swimming gold medals going to swimmers wearing Speedo suits, the brand is ecstatic about the resulting increase in their demand in the market. Well, it is justified because the famous Olympian Michael Phelps is a prominent Speedo endorser.

So keeping in line with the action in Beijing, Speedo is planning a nationwide publicity tour for Phelps and other Olympians at the end of August. This will coincide with the introduction of swimsuits based on the same technology as the LZR racer suits worn in the Olympics. Brisk preorders for the full-body suits, worth 550 dollars apiece, have already started flowing in.

But the icing on the cake came with Nike letting their swimmers know that they will not regard the use of the LZR racer as a breach of their endorser agreement. “We were both shocked and flattered,” shared the Speedo spokesperson.

The only negative publicity that Speedo invited was with the leaky pair of goggles that Phelps wore when securing his fifth gold medal. On this, the spokesperson said, “Phelps uses a different pair of goggles for every race. It’s possible that he may have not tightened them properly. I would like to add that Gold medalist Dara Torres is still wearing the same pair of Speedo goggles from 15 years ago and they are not often faulty.”
