Some adverts are made just for the heck of making one. Brylcreem’s Effortless TV spot seems to belong to this category! There’s this guy who uses the product and his life seems to be sans any efforts. Voila! Every single action that he performs be it getting into his shirt, preparing his toast and some other nitty gritty household chores (before he finally dumps himself on the sofa and feeds his pet tortoise) seem to be so smooth, bearing a fluidity of some sorts! Jeez, I whish that was true in the real life too. What irks me is that after first 30seconds the commercial becomes boring until the camera ultimately focuses on the displayed Brylcreem tubes.  Boringgg…is the word to describe this TV ad!

Buenos Aires Zoo Advertising campaign brings to you some very interesting, creative and touching ads. Designed by Del Campo Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi these different ad campaigns “The Kangaroos have arrived”, “Now we also open at night”, “Get much more for much less” and Buenos Aires Zoo “115 Years” comprise print ads that are a visual-feast for anyone who is close to nature and loves animals!  Besides the creative agency has also produced a T.V. spot called “Together” which is a brilliant animated ad film with lovely story, perfect music and sound elements and animated monkey and polar bear. Together tells us the story of two friends who get separated geographically but are brought together again in Buenos Aires Zoo.

Baking& Sweet Foods is one category for which one can make ads that are really sickeningly sweet and frilly. But thanks to Tom Kuntz, the rather unusual adverts for the Natural Confectionary Company are refreshingly witty while still holding the elements of sweetness in it! Bring on the trumpets, Mumble, Scary Bear, Posh Dinosaur (TV ads) are all very well executed with great camera work and a delightful voiceover. The ads are definitely a must see even if you don’t have a sweet tooth and know what watching these wont give you diabetes! Have a look at other ad films too:

Akshay Kumar ‘Singh’ is one hot property these days! The kingg’s persona wins him the country’s first ‘collaborative’ advertisement as a part of the Live Unbuttoned campaign tailor-made by Levis to launch its new 501 Jeans in the Indian market. Levis Strauss has launched an active promotional campaign including TVC and fashion shows to arouse the interest of urban Indian youth to direct, script and perform the actual adverts for the new product. The brand will organize this contest at a special website where youngsters will be asked to share their creative concepts for the forthcoming ad(s). Participants can upload videos of their previous work along with their portfolios on the website.

Fatherhood is not an easy job. Especially when your chubby sweetheart tiny tot gives you a hard time changing diapers! There ought to be something special about moms. Isn’t it? See for your self. This funny viral video of behind-the-scenes titled ‘Inside The Diaper’ tells you just how difficult it is for a papa to handle the act of diaper-changing! What makes this Huggies commercial witty is not just the brilliant performance by the ‘shooter’ red chubby cheeks kid but the deliberately serious tone of the voice over. Not to forget puns like ‘golden moments’ and ‘whiz kids’!

The power kick of a caffeinated drink is something which we all have experienced some or the other time. Making use of the iconic Bruce Lee a Japanese ad film shows the master practicing his art in a scorching desert. Giving force to his powerful movements is this drink which is being advertised in this brief advert. To begin with I would really like to know who has made such a mediocre spot and what is the rationale behind showing a martial arts champion kicking and punching in the desert air advocating about some power drink? Besides the content the narrative used is again unimpressive, nor is there something very extraordinary about the camera work.To me this video is quite senseless… for thanks to the new health conscious age that we are living in it is well known that caffeinated drinks more harm for a few minutes of kick!

We have all seen what a sight the Beijing Olympics’ inauguration ceremony was! And it delights me to share this lovely ad film with all my readers. Based on the fervor of these mega games and comprising lovely animation, cute birdies and peppy music; the commercial from Coca Cola is a must-see video. The spirit of these games is such that even birds are affected deeply! So, they fly at different places to collect red and white straws from coke bottles and build a nest for themselves resembling the Bird’s Nest Stadium on a nearby tree overlooking the spectacular building. How wonderfully creative is the idea! Created by Wieden + Kennedy (Amsterdam), the advert is truly par excellence. The artwork, sound & music, theme…just about everything in this ad is so delightful that you really want to Live Olympic on the Coke Side of Life!

Candy Feet, Sweet Candies & Love between two friends…these are the components of the new Skittles: Feet Advert. A curly haired dude wrapped in yellow cardigan says to another, “I’m your friend because you are really a good person”. Then onwards, one expects pretty much the same idea of sweet innocent friendship (read gay love) propelled by Skittles!

While the ad is deliberately crafted in the comedy genre, its silly dialogues and visuals hardly throw you into peals of laughter. I have no objections on the casting of this one, for a sweet candy can be effectively advertised and sold without using celebrities but the spot lacks value in terms of script.

The latest craze among cell phone companies now-a-days seems to me is the factory production of viral videos. For one finds that to advertise about the launch of a single new model these companies, churn out virals in a wholesale manner!! First it was Sprint Instinct’s spoofs and now, following the footsteps is Nokia 6220’s LOST series. The list of spots in this series goes on like this- Lost chicken, Lost Alien, Lost Goths, Lost Pirates and Lost Packman. God! When I first saw the Lost chicken advert I was kinda sad for this cute but dejected chicken lost on the streets of town unable to find its destination. But a timely help from a personal navigator puts back the smile on chicken’s face (and mine too!).

Awww…sentimental girlfriends and their incessant grudges! But the good part about this cute TV spot is the it’s not about those dangerously aggressive gf’s kind. Chupa Chups Girlfriend advert is a lovely example of how two different Mediums (traditional and modern media) are combined to effectively advertise about a product. The puppet is the show stealer in this spot!! Here are the credits:
