For us a glass of water is just a glass of water! One which we throw away easily when the water inside is not consumed. But have you ever wondered, somebody on the planet is unfortunate enough to be thirsty for days and weeks, for that one glass which you poured down the drain? If not then this video is for you! This ad film shows how Studio Brussels along with Red Cross came forward to launch the charity event ‘music for life’ in a rather unconventional manner. This event aimed to raise awareness for the scarcity of drinkable water in many African countries. In order to make the event a huge success the organizers hit the nail by observing that every TV anchor/host has a glass of water by his/her side. Something so common that nobody cares for till some one comes and drinks it! In this case the organizers started an effective guerilla marketing campaign by instructing a black boy to visit the studio in a rush and drink the water meant for the anchorperson.
August 9th, 2008Birds Build the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Coke’s New Advert
We have all seen what a sight the Beijing Olympics’ inauguration ceremony was! And it delights me to share this lovely ad film with all my readers. Based on the fervor of these mega games and comprising lovely animation, cute birdies and peppy music; the commercial from Coca Cola is a must-see video. The spirit of these games is such that even birds are affected deeply! So, they fly at different places to collect red and white straws from coke bottles and build a nest for themselves resembling the Bird’s Nest Stadium on a nearby tree overlooking the spectacular building. How wonderfully creative is the idea! Created by Wieden + Kennedy (Amsterdam), the advert is truly par excellence. The artwork, sound & music, theme…just about everything in this ad is so delightful that you really want to Live Olympic on the Coke Side of Life!
July 30th, 2008It Keeps You Smiling: Mario Kart DS - Japanese advert
We’ve all played Mario so much that it comes as no surprise to me when I ran a search on Youtube, I found so many ad films on the little moustache bearing hero!:-)
The game’s international popularity gets reflected directly in this Mario Kart DS: Japanese advert. Agreed, the ad film is not the latest one but it kinda makes you smile every time you watch it! And for gaming freaks surely, it’s like visiting an old video library. So watch it again ( and those who haven’t seen it even once, they are also welcome).

I do know many people out there (who have seen this video) can’t escape a mini laugh although, they are happy pretending that the 50 sec TV spot is preposterous! So much so, the advert is taken off from TV. (Since when did Americans start caring about issues like Nudity in Ads?) I can’t say about girls but guys must be rolling over…and heading for a Rolling Rock, perhaps! ![]()

July 26th, 2008Moonwalker Viral from Levi’s- Fun Unlimited!
Levi’s latest moonwalker campaign is a refreshing one to see. A bunch of guys looking out for some fun with a gas cylinder, handy cams, and one of them eager enough to show off his dare-devilry! One is completely engrossed watching the antics of these young lads. I like the part, where the moonwalker senses danger and opens his zipper to get down! The fellow showed some gravity of thought
(just kidding, silly!)
The ad was developed by executive creative director Chuck McBride, creative director Marty Senn, agency executive producer Jennifer Golub, agency assistant producer Bill Spangler, and copywriter Eric King at Cutwater, San Francisco. Editor Dan Oberle took care of post production and VFX was supervised by Jake Montgomery (at Method Studios). Drama is added to the viral vid by Yadnus’s music (happens to be an American dance-punk band).

The enchanting music was produced by Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn (Production company: Passion Pictures, Zombie Flesh Eaters). Journey to the West is an ancient ribald tale by Wu Cheng’en (written more than 500yrs ago).
You wouldn’t have seen such an exciting video about Lions on Big Cat Dairy (BBC) or on Discovery Channel, as you will in this Samsung Camera advert. This ad film video tapes the activity of mighty lions and all that happens in a day’s work. Agreed, at first I was a bit taken back because of my honed skills at watching such programs on various wildlife channels. But, I could stop laughing when the video takes an unprecedented twist! In simple words, just go ahead and enjoy the ad which delivers a covert message about the product (Samsung NV24HD digicam). Read in between lines and you will learn what the 30fps feature of this model can do!

Advertisers these days have found a new muse for their funny adverts. Be it online gaming or the modest detergent in your house. An ad with underwear and some witty strokes to it guarantees the success of your strategy to promote a product.
This hilarious ad film will tell you what I want to say here. It will especially gel with board gamer addicts but is funny enough to be a hit among non-gamers as well! Reason: the comic antics done by the Latino babe, her shakes and moves and finally the loaded fart!
Nothing can beat the combination of Oreo cookies and milk! The fact gets reinforced with this brilliant advertising campaign done by Draft FCB (New York) for Oreo. The Elevator ad campaign was installed in a shopping mall in NY City and it seems the crowd likes this sort of innovative outdoor advertising!
The poster advert on the above campaign reads, “The traditional dunk of an Oreo cookie into a glass of milk was dramatized with the use of a panoramic elevator in a shopping mall. This attention-grabbing use of new media gave us one more way to show that Oreo is milk’s favorite cookie”.
