The newest web browser by Microsoft, called Internet Explorer 8, clearly has an ad edge to it. We know how companies selling ads online can electronically gather information regarding the web surfer’s habit and then use the data to decide what kind of ads to show. This enables the brands to hanker after their target groups whether the recipients of the ads like it or not. But not anymore.

August 8th, 2008Amnesty: The Protest Must Go On. Or Not?

China sure has been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently, and Amnesty International denies what first looked like its bit in defaming the Olympic city of the year. According to Amnesty, the intent behind their furious advertisements has been misinterpreted. As the world appreciates the pictorial ads with interesting detailing, even the Chinese bloggers have expressed their appreciation. For the uninitiated, the ads depict atrocities inflicted upon protestors in China brewing up a lot of trouble for the Chinese establishment who is trying everything in its power to keep up a clean image in the wake of the Olympics and the media island created on its grounds.

August 4th, 2008Harnn Gets Under Your Skin
Harnn pain relief ads released in Thailand are EEKS! I think they should issue a warning for the weak at heart to close their eyes the moment they spot this ad. Oh my god, what were the creative minds thinking while planning for this one.
Soaring worldwide inflation has hit the markets badly but it can’t deter construction companies from advertising about themselves. Tal’at Mustapha Construction’s ad campaign is a beautiful juxtaposition of today& tomorrow. The prints have beautiful landscapes, golf courses, swimming pools etc on surface creatively merged with the machinery, materials, boulders and likes. With these ads, one can marvel at the Egyptian advertising as well. The country is already a famous destination for tourists.
The creative images are reinforced by a positive tagline, ‘We Build For The Future. ’
The campaign truly promises a beautiful tomorrow, a well carved-out future.

July 27th, 2008Canadian Filmmakers Festival Ad Campaign Rocks!
This one’s for all those who have been brought up by a regular feed of Hollywood flicks. The funny take over American Cinema by the Canadian one in this TV spot leaves me grinning hard. The advertisement is a part of a multimedia campaign that was created and launched by advertising agency GJP Advertising. Both the television and print ads make use of familiar images from Hollywood blockbusters in a manner that renders the adverts a funny disposition. I bet even Californian governor would grin if he watches this witty take on his ‘Terminator’!
July 27th, 2008Old Wine in New Bottle: McDonald’s Kung Fu Spot
The most awaited sporting event of 2008, Beijing Olympics is just a few days away and media attention is pouring on it from all sides. Needless to say the official partners of the event are zooming on the advertising ramp churning out videos and adverts to gain on maximum veiwership! A few days ago this brilliant ad film by BBC (Magic Monkey) was released which is still hogging on its share of appreciation and applauds. And now, Mc Donalds has come up with its Kung Fu spot. But, the latter is a sheer disappointment. At least, I dint found it to be a second-time viewing stuff! Of course, I wasn’t expecting anything but oriental flavor. Only that the 2 kids fighting out kung fu style for a small Chicken McNugget isn’t something which I would call exciting. Created by Leo Burnett, the ad film’s tussle is a tad too similar to fight scenes of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Any way, better luck next time!

July 27th, 2008No One Can Take Away A Delicious Meal From You!

Rarely does one comes across an advertisement from a restaurant which does not brags about the delicacies it serves! And, I think, this makes the print adverts of Jacaré Grill absolutely fantastic! Done by agency Leo Burnett the posters are titled: Doctor, Robber and Judge. All the three are hilariously well executed- the graphics and the color scheme (old- burnt out look) are attention grabbers. To top it all, the funny messages written comic-style (within bubbles).
July 26th, 2008Prints that Inspire You for a Good Cause

What happens when creativity and pen-art combines with a good cause? The result is a brilliant advertising campaign by Sports Association for the Handicapped. The latter’s campaign comprise 3 adverts: all neat, simple, refreshing and effective. Congratulations to the artist who drew these line-drawings. One of the posters seems to be done by using ink-press technique.
Even more touching are the slogans:
1) Yes, running is good for the heart,
2) One foot can change someone’s life. Remember Cinderella? AND
3) Exactly when can you help us? Ready, set, go!
July 26th, 2008Moonwalker Viral from Levi’s- Fun Unlimited!
Levi’s latest moonwalker campaign is a refreshing one to see. A bunch of guys looking out for some fun with a gas cylinder, handy cams, and one of them eager enough to show off his dare-devilry! One is completely engrossed watching the antics of these young lads. I like the part, where the moonwalker senses danger and opens his zipper to get down! The fellow showed some gravity of thought
(just kidding, silly!)
The ad was developed by executive creative director Chuck McBride, creative director Marty Senn, agency executive producer Jennifer Golub, agency assistant producer Bill Spangler, and copywriter Eric King at Cutwater, San Francisco. Editor Dan Oberle took care of post production and VFX was supervised by Jake Montgomery (at Method Studios). Drama is added to the viral vid by Yadnus’s music (happens to be an American dance-punk band).
July 26th, 2008Color Splash adverts from Havaianas
Feeling depressed? Then add some color to your feet. Pep up yourself with some color therapy and there’s a lot to choose from! The color splash, big bang print adverts from Havaianas are simply refreshing. The company is known for its out-of-the box guerilla marketing so far. This time picking up print as the medium and using the services of agency AlmapBBDO (São Paulo, Brazil) Havaianas has again made a very colorful statement about their comfortable footwear.
To me these prints bring so much joy (as I simply enjoy colors) that I can imagine so many good things seeing these adverts!! (You know what they say- synaesthesia). So, I’m definitely going to buy one of these. While you guys read the credits and hey you do want to know the tagline (isn’t it?) – “Your feet in heaven: semi-naked, surrounded with colors”. Splash Splash!
