Having being tainted as BAD isn’t all that bad after all! The Brisbane Advertising and Design Club has taken an initiative to prove just that. The club maintains its say on the fact that although people think otherwise about their industry but it sure does have a big heart! One ready to help those in need and thus BAD has come up with a BAD Charity Heart campaign. The print advert developed for the campaign is done by
creative director/copywriter Rem Bruijn, art director Aaron Nielsen, photographer Florian Groehn and retoucher Danny Josyln at Make (Brisbane, Australia). The visuals of the advertisement can lead to nausea among the weak hearts. But it is a very bold message and I think it fits the theme! The Big Heart Charity Fun Run as sponsored by the BADies will take place on September 7. Here’s how you could be a part of it as well. Invite co-workers, friends, family members, clients and suppliers, form a team and register it at heartofgold at badclub.com.au. This is a great chance to raise money for the charities that you associate yourself with. Just work together and see what it leads to! :D

‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’. While we all have been following this adage since we were tiny tots, somehow, in between growing up we forgot that the traditional maxim holds true for our environment as well and not just personal hygiene!

Clean up Australia’s initiative - Clean Up the World partners with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to encourage people and help them in preserving their local environment by cleaning it up and fixing it. The NGO did a recent survey on office paper printouts and found out that over 80% of them end up in waste bins. A disturbing sign that it is in today’s time when forests are already limited in numbers. So, it came up with this innovative drive made especially for offices where work force sitting on computers and laptops is reminded through wallpaper about the value of paper and its source. The agency DDB, Sydney undertook this project and came up with a simple to use downloadable desktop image. The later will help in generating awareness and will force people to think before they go for a random printing session. The desktop image is that of a microsite bearing different icons in totality appearing as a tree. Brilliant idea and wonderful execution! I think this should not be limited to Australia only but should be made mandatory in offices worldwide.

DHL Gridlock

In Hong Kong, you will find these days a new and fresh take at outdoor advertising featuring works of Ogilvy & Mather (Hong Kong) for DHL on the MTR escalators. To demonstrate the courier company’s inexplicable ability to ‘deliver-on-time’ regardless of the conditions, the ad agency converted the escalators into advertising boards. The areas either side or between the escalators were covered with giant bird’s eye view of Hong Kong’s infamous traffic jams on high-ways. The condition of stationary road traffic clearly evident on the escalators main body.
