New Trends in Corporate Social Responsibility: P&G’s Advercycling Initiative.

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

In this age of active media proliferation in our lives and society per se, advertising without social responsibility angle to it seems a tad empty! That’s why I always find it interesting to watch media campaigns that highlight the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) quotient of biggies in the industrial world. The latest move by Proctor & Gamble a known brand in the FMCG section displays the foresightedness of the company. Its Advercycling initiative is all about recycling advertisements (in this case vinyl billboards featuring ads on P&G’s products) into designer clothing. Thus reducing the ecological impact of P&G’s advertising strategies on our Mother Earth.

Must say, this is a creative way to reduce one’s footprint! UNICEF has also associated itself with this good work. The designs so created have been presented at BAF week and Pecha Kucha Nights Argentina. Creative agency Saatchi & Saatchi, Bogota, Colombia has helped Proctor and Gamble in transforming advertising into news. This is something worth appreciation! Isn’t it folks?

‘Stop the Traffik’ Brings Out Guerilla Marketing Campaign in London

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Human Trafficking is one of the dark realities of today s rapidly advancing world. Many gullible thousands of age tender and young, becomes the victim of this heinous trade today. Stop the Traffik is a global movement against this crime. The NGO has recently come up with a very powerful guerilla campaign on the streets of central London. Saatchi& Saatchi (UK) has designed this campaign showing signs and billboards talking about human sale and advertising prices with provocative lines like ‘just a short walk away’, ‘great selection of humans New & Used!”.

The campaign also involves distributing pamphlets that draw one’s attention to not only those who are grinded in this unfair and unethical trade but towards the consumers who form a vital part of this human supply chain. It breaks my heart to realize that modern man can be so brutal and selfish. That modernism only affects his superficial entities like clothes and accessories but deep within he is a dangerous animal! I’m sufficiently convinced that ‘people shouldn’t be bought & sold’ (Stop the Traffik’s Slogan). What about u?

Hey Sweetie, Don’t Forget the Milk!

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

This print advertisement is a part of the campaign done for Sony In-Car Audio which now comes with a Bluetooth! The other two ads are Traffic’s Insane and I’ve Escaped Work Early. All the adverts are creatively done and presented in a Hollywood flick’s poster style. The message gets reflected but what catches the eye is of course the graphics of these ads!

Don’t mix Sleep and Driving: Stop, sleep and then drive Campaign

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

While driving on a highway can be fun, it can be disastrous if you are the driver and you happen to sleep on your steering wheel! Issued for public awareness and safety, agency Saatchi & Saatchi’s ad campaign for district of Rodney (New Zealand) happens to be a gentle reminder of this.

The campaign has three adverts all of them well executed in terms of content, style and packaging. Printed and published from a perspective shot, the graphics clearly spell out the dangers of mixing your sleep with your driving.

The district authorities of Rodney thus urge you to stop, sleep and then drive. Your life and car both are precious and so is your sleep. Be just with each of them. Drive you’re an alert mind!

Glass, Nails or Razor Blades: Abate Your Pain with Voltaren

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

The print advertisements of Voltaren pain relief balm seem too good to be true.
I haven’t tried the product and so can’t really vouch for its effectiveness but so far as the prints are concerned, agency Saatchi & Saatchi, Amsterdam’s work hits the target effectively! So much so, the posters titled Voltaren: Glass, Razor Blades & Nails look creative black and white artistic prints in the first place. Also nice is the ad slogan which reads” Pain relief balm soldiers through the most nefarious stuff.”

The verdict: this ad campaign is simple & effective.

Travel Around the World: Cox & Kings

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Cox

Advertising agency: Saatchi & Saatchi (Mumbai, India) has done a print ad campaign for the world famous travel& tour company Cox & Kings. The adverts bear a nostalgic look in sepia tones. Three world famous destinations/icons are picked and their snaps at the time of their construction have been used for designing the ads. The poster adverts are named Statue of Liberty, London Bridge and Eiffel Tower. The agency has maintained a classic look in all the three advertisements. The idea of showing a family being photographed in front of a still-born Eiffel tower (that is the tower in its initial stages) reflects only one thing; that Cox & Kings is in the business of travel, transport and tourism from a very long time indeed! Whatever be the covert claims made by these ads, the appearance of the ads is rather dull.

Too much TV will make you upholstery!

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Too much TV will make you upholstery! Brocade Couch, ESPN, TV, Saatchi & Saatchi, Singapore, Advertising, Print Advertisement, Media, Visual, Habit, Media, Sports, Advertisement, ESPN, Print Adveritsement, Print Advertising, Advertising, Contemporary Ads

Being 24×7 in front of the idiot box can turn you into upholstery. This is the opinion of one of the leading sports channels ESPN. The Brocade Couch print advert is done by

Saatchi & Saatchi (Singapore)! It seems to be quite an apt advertisement of this age. Concerns over kids being obese at an age when they should be slender and actively playing on field are voiced through this print ad. A man and a dog glued to the TV set. And the man is a part of the sofa s upholstery being there on the sofa throughout his day and for everyday of a week! While ESPN like all most of the channels these days has a round-the-clock programming schedule, thanks to the rapidly evolving media and sports industries. But the concern over viewers becoming couch potatoes by watching a Sports channel is refreshing to see. Moral of the ad: Watch ESPN everyday but don t become an extension of your couch/ bed.
