August 7th, 2008The LOST Series By Nokia 6220: Bores You After A While!
Online Videos by Veoh.com
The latest craze among cell phone companies now-a-days seems to me is the factory production of viral videos. For one finds that to advertise about the launch of a single new model these companies, churn out virals in a wholesale manner!! First it was Sprint Instinct’s spoofs and now, following the footsteps is Nokia 6220’s LOST series. The list of spots in this series goes on like this- Lost chicken, Lost Alien, Lost Goths, Lost Pirates and Lost Packman. God! When I first saw the Lost chicken advert I was kinda sad for this cute but dejected chicken lost on the streets of town unable to find its destination. But a timely help from a personal navigator puts back the smile on chicken s face (and mine too!).
But when I clicked on the Lost Alien video and then the Lost Goths, I was utterly disappointed to find that, Work Club (London, UK) is so short of creative ideas that it made one video and with the same formula, same story line, same music, same camera angles it churned out another four vids !!! Arrrrghh…give me a break please! Honestly, I couldn’t get back my mood to watch (in full length) the left ones in this ‘Lost’ series. Thankfully there was a difference in characters and themes for all the videos. Although, the personal navigator is common to all of them and its quite ok but I don’t understand the rationale behind giving every advert the SAME treatment. Why on earth would somebody like to eat 5 different dishes in a single meal, cooked in exactly the same style? Seriously, the ad makers appear to be lost in their upstairs. Perhaps they were busy playing with the navigating features of Nokia 6220 than thinking great ideas!

July 26th, 2008It’s a Man Thong! : Rolling Rock’s Funny Video
Ok readers, I’m still laughing over it! The vacancy is for Males only. For being the VP sales of a well known company a) Drop Your Pants and Make Sure you are in a Thong! And b) keep the office’s refrigerator filled with ice-cold Rolling Rocks! ![]()
I do know many people out there (who have seen this video) can’t escape a mini laugh although, they are happy pretending that the 50 sec TV spot is preposterous! So much so, the advert is taken off from TV. (Since when did Americans start caring about issues like Nudity in Ads?) I can’t say about girls but guys must be rolling over…and heading for a Rolling Rock, perhaps! ![]()
Ok folks, here are the credits:

Advertisers these days have found a new muse for their funny adverts. Be it online gaming or the modest detergent in your house. An ad with underwear and some witty strokes to it guarantees the success of your strategy to promote a product.
This hilarious ad film will tell you what I want to say here. It will especially gel with board gamer addicts but is funny enough to be a hit among non-gamers as well! Reason: the comic antics done by the Latino babe, her shakes and moves and finally the loaded fart!

Next in line is this promotional print advert by BOLT detergent. I don’t need to comment over it. Just that a wonderfully rib-tickling ad with a whacky idea and great execution. To sum it all is the tagline “It smells this irresistible’’! I just hope guys don’t start copying this stuff to impress their gals!

September 15th, 2007Gmail M-velope Hits Your Inbox in 2:18 minutes, a Compact Video Pill
The whopping usage of video as an advertising tool is well-depicted by latest Gmail video. Right from east to west and north covering south, the journey covered by the M-velope is really interesting. Don t dare to call it a self-boast of Gmail or another social-advertising activity as it is the result of the submissions received from the fanatical fans of Gmail across 65 countries.
Want Numbers? 1,100 inimitable videos were received and welcomed by the Gmail community. Starting from countless babies, dog s trip to the down south tip of the continental US to firemen, jugglers, camel-riders, the creativity witnessed in the videos was at par.
But the video that we have before us is the best of the “bestest”. Away from social advertising, it s more of a reality picture. This is a clear indication of the mounting practice of living lives on gmail. Three cheers for the team that has given a best shot in the age of bleak glut and for its success that is being embraced by its visitors and intoxicated audience.
It seems the group doesn t take a back seat in giving credit to its contributors. Considering the large chunk of international contributors, Google Maps API is being used to locate the places far and wide that have made this video possible.
My all heart goes to this beautiful development. What about you?
