‘The Levi’s Self’: Levi’s Knows It’s Wearers, Alright!

Unbutton Your Beast

The 90-second Cutwater spot of Levi’s “Onion Peel” is all about the ‘average woman’ who is comfortable at being herself – which in anyone’s definition means wearing Levi’s for comfort, ease, and simplicity. The spot’s theme is shouting clear. No matter how complicated or made-up or cosmetic a woman is, she always goes back to her ‘average gal’ self that is beautiful in its simplicity. This is her Levi’s self. The reason why Levi’s sells millions of pairs of jeans to women is because it knows the beautiful female mind.

Levi’s latest advertising effort to show-off it’s knowledge of the male Levi’s wearer is a viral web campaign entitled “Unbutton Your Beast.” The web campaign might just be a tad lame but it provokes enough for the males who, by all indication, spends most of their waking hours on the web and all its variegated forms. The viral EVB is meant to be passed around. The receiver has a choice among nine different animated characters. What seems as a weak aesthetic campaign is actually a powerful psychological power-stirring of the male psyché.

Clichéd Retro Presentation: Dita Von Teese’s “Science of Sexy” Viral for Wonderbra

Monday, September 15th, 2008

The much awaited stylish-n-sexy lingerie range from Dita Von Teese (the burlesque actress known for her curves), will be launched next week on Sep, 23rd.However, a viral video featuring the actress in her new Wonderbra styles is making waves on the idiot box these days. The TVC named ‘Science of Sexy’ shows Dita as a scientist who discovers the gene of sexiness (which transforms into a Wonderbra while undergoing microscopic examination!). What follows next is pretty clichéd (yet much anticipated by males)—the heroine’s erotic dance in various itsy-bitsy numbers from her lingerie range!
The treatment of the viral vid feeds the typical male gaze which is unambiguously accepted by females as well. (Sigh). Anyway, when it comes to lingerie nothing much can be expected than this kind of treatment (although, the Wonderbra campaign featuring real women showing their assets on a giant billboard was an innovative one!). What I find the most funny in this video is all those poor male scientists holding props made out of ostrich feathers. Apparently the gene for sexiness seems to be gender-selective as per the video! ;)

Post-It Sticky Notes Have a Run in Nike Human Race Viral Video!

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Tomorrow, millions of people will participate in the largest single day run of the year-the Nike+ Human Race 10K. I thought, on the eve of such an event which will take place in 25 cities around the globe, sharing with my readers this viral video by Nike using stop motion post-it sticky notes would be a good idea. I’m sure for most of the smart readers this video isn’t a fresh one but for the sake of those who haven’t seen it yet, let me give u some insights to it. This vid is made by BBDO Argentina and is the brainchild of director Antonio Balseiro along with vital inputs from animators Carlos Balseiro, Ale de Lamas, and Pleii y Monroe.

The colorful post-it notes depict the Argentine runner who defeats participants from other countries. An equally startling performance is expected from runners of this country tomorrow. Here’s wishing good luck to all those who are participating in good will in this mega-run!

Face Urine Trouble in Huggies Funny ‘Inside The Diaper’ Viral

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Fatherhood is not an easy job. Especially when your chubby sweetheart tiny tot gives you a hard time changing diapers! There ought to be something special about moms. Isn’t it? See for your self. This funny viral video of behind-the-scenes titled ‘Inside The Diaper’ tells you just how difficult it is for a papa to handle the act of diaper-changing! What makes this Huggies commercial witty is not just the brilliant performance by the ‘shooter’ red chubby cheeks kid but the deliberately serious tone of the voice over. Not to forget puns like ‘golden moments’ and ‘whiz kids’!

The credits for this thoroughly enjoyable TVC are:
Ad Agency: JWT New York; Walt Connelly (Executive Creative Director);
Richie Glickman (Creative Director); Vikas Bhalla (Art Director);
